千光寺の、数々の巨岩や石仏像に惹かれ　 Attracted by the numerous giant rocks and stone Buddha statues at Senko-ji Temple

尾道の千光寺は大宝山の中腹にある、弘法大師の開基の寺院で山岳信仰の篤い寺院。本堂は、標高140ｍの大宝山の山肌に本堂が建ち珍しい舞台づくり。その本堂に収められている本尊は秘仏の千手観世音菩薩である。

Senko-ji Temple in Onomichi is located on the hillside of Mt. Daiho and is the founding temple of Kobo Daishi. The main hall is a rare stage with the main hall built on the surface of Mt. Daiho at an altitude of 140m. The principal image contained in the main hall is the Senju Kanzeon Bosatsu, a secret Buddha.

本堂へ進む参道には山肌に多くの巨岩が露出している。昔から岩や石を祈りの対象に多くの参拝者が列を連ねたという。また、多くの参拝者を楽しませたのが千光寺からの尾道水道や瀬戸内海の島々の眺望。その美しさは誰もが認めるところである。

そのためか、尾道の風光を愛でた文人墨客の入山も多い。参道には作品が刻まれた天然の岩が目に留まる。また、本堂周辺には多くの石仏像が安置されている。信仰の篤さがうかがえる。

Many huge rocks are exposed on the mountain surface on the approach to the main hall. It is said that many worshipers lined up for prayer on rocks and stones from ancient times. Also, what entertained many worshipers was the view of the Onomichi Channel and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea from Senko-ji Temple. Its beauty is undisputed.

Perhaps because of this, there are many literary and summoned guests who loved the scenery of Onomichi. On the approach road, you can see the natural rocks with the works engraved on them. In addition, many stone Buddha statues are enshrined around the main hall. You can see the seriousness of the faith.

眼に留まった巨岩や石仏像を写真で紹介する。この千光寺は目を楽しませてくれるいろんな景色に出会えるところである。
