西と東の手水鉢の龍の向きが・・京、春の散策シリーズⅡ -本願寺手水鉢-

年に数回は、お西さん、お東さんで親しまれている西本願寺、東本願寺を交互にお詣りさせていただく。
同じ本願寺でも本願寺派と大谷派で分かれているが、浄土真宗総本山として親鸞上人像の御影堂と阿弥陀如来像が祀られている阿弥陀堂は両寺院ともにある。しかし両寺院の違いの中で、些細なことながら目に留まったのが手水鉢にある水口龍の向き。
お西さんは本堂に向いているのに、お東さんは背にしている。理由はわからないが、共に水口は威厳のあるりっぱな龍が鎮座していた。

Several times a year, l visit Nishi Honganji Temple and Higashi Honganji Temple, which are popularly known as Onishi-san and Ohigashi-san.
The same Honganji Temple is divided into the Honganji Fanction and the Otani Fanction, but both the temples, the Jodo Shinshu headquarters, enshrine the Shinran Jinjin statue of Mikage and the Amitabha Nyorai statue. However, among the differences between the two temples, the one that caught my eye, albeit trivially, was the direction of Ryu-tap in the water bowl.
Nishi is facing the main hall, while Higashi is behind. I don’t know why, but both of them had a majestic fine dragon sitting there.
